Error - from the Internet Connection Firewall Built in to Windows XP Pro
Question
When launching ACT!, you receive a warning from the Internet Connection Firewall built into Windows XP Pro.

Answer
This warning occurs when the Windows Internet Connection Firewall software detects ACT! attempting to establish a network connection to your shared database. This is not an error. In order to share an ACT! database, you will need to disable this option on both the server machine and the client workstation.

To disable the Internet Connection Firewall, complete the steps below:

  1. Open the Windows Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Network Connections icon. The Network Connections dialog box appears.
  3. Right-click your Local Area Connection icon. The Local Area Connection Properties dialog box appears.




  4. Under the Advanced tab, disable the Internet Connection Firewall option, and then click OK.
